About Appraisals:

Art appraisals are important for many reasons including the protection of your art investment, insurance coverage, valuation for loss or damage, estate tax purposes, charitable donations, when selling your art, or for equitable distribution.

It is important to have a current appraisal of your art written by an appraiser who has high professional standards and qualifications, and who will provide you with expert, non-biased and clearly documented advice. Your appraiser should have access to art price databases, auction and sales reports and current information about market trends. Your appraiser should be knowledgeable, thorough and diligent both in research and in appraisal writing and methodology.

When your appraisal is complete, the documents and valuations provided to you will be a source of useful information that goes beyond the current value of your art properties. It will inform you with detailed descriptions of the methods and comparisons used to determine the value your artwork, artist biographies, and other important data that is relevant and necessary for the type of appraisal that best fits your needs.

Charges are usually per hour. Extra fees will be charged for additional expenses including consultations with experts or for long distance travel. Fees are not based upon the value of the art being appraised, nor are they based upon any agreement regarding consultation for brokerage services.

Fees and estimates of time will be provided prior to an agreement with the client, and any additional fees will be discussed with the client in advance.
