Christina Goodman was born in Pisa, Italy to American parents. She studied at UC Santa Cruz and Parsons in New York. Her art career began with faux finishing, gilding and sign lettering. She began painting in miniature in 1990, and is self taught in that technique.

Christina Goodman's handpainted miniatures are based on elements from Renaissance art. Each piece is cast in resin material or hand built out of wood. The frames are gilded in 22k gold leaf, using either oil or water gilding techniques.

The paintings are done in acrylics, using extremely fine brushes and a magnifier. The imagery is inspired by details in Renaissance paintings, illuminated manuscripts, botanical illustrations and elements in nature.
